About Sariska Tiger Reserve
Located in the Alwar district of Rajasthan, Sariska Tiger Reserve spans over 866 square kilometers of diverse wildlife habitat. Originally a hunting preserve of the Maharaja of Alwar, it was declared a wildlife sanctuary in 1955 and later became a Project Tiger reserve in 1978.
The park is famous for its successful tiger reintroduction program and is home to a variety of wildlife including leopards, hyenas, jungle cats, sambar deer, nilgai, and over 200 species of birds.
Apart from wildlife, Sariska houses several historical monuments including the Kankwari Fort, Neelkanth temples, and Pandupol. The blend of natural beauty and ancient heritage makes it a unique destination for wildlife enthusiasts and history lovers alike.
